Sympathetic Dominance

Sympathetic Dominance

I want to talk to you about Sympathetic Dominance.

I have opened for careful regulars only and I have observed that some are now in a totally sympathetic dominant state.
What might that be?
The autonomic nervous system has two branches: the Sympathetic which is what is used when stressed. In this state you are secreting adrenaline and cortisone among other hormones and your digestion and cardiovascular system are dysregulated to deal immediate stressors.

Symptoms of Sympathetic Dominance are:
Anxiety and panic attacks
Chronic digestion issues
Unable to mentally slow down
Fast pulse
Higher blood pressure
Palpitations
Shoulder and neck muscle tightness
Insomnia
Lowered immunity

These are just some and of course go to your doctor to have them evaluated.
But everyone should be doing things to bring themselves to the parasympathetic state.

The other branch of the Autonomic Nervous System is called Parasympathetic. That branch is the relaxed state where digestion turns back on because there is no immediate threat. The body can heal better. Inflammation can subside

I would suggest such things as
walking
yoga
deep slow breathing
running
biking
meditation
a hobby
humor
music
art appreciation
so much more

I am now offering virtual health coaching, which includes accountability checks on your health goals including things that help you relax.

Pain with barometric pressure changes

Pain with barometric pressure changes
For those of you who experience neuropathic pain during barometric pressure changes.

Whether it be migraines, fibromyalgia, joint pains.

Here are some things you can do for relief.

1. A warm bath with and ice pack on your neck or head for migraines

2. For migraines; a face mask to darken a room. Silence as much as possible helps too.

3. Keep a diary of events and triggers. There is an app to use for barometric pressure gauging

4. In traditional Chinese medicine, if damp weather makes your pain increase it is believed that you have too much dampness in your body. Some herbal teas to try regularly are dandelion, parsley, nettle. Green tea to some extent

5 Peppermint oil has been used by some of my chronic migraine sufferers with good results.
You can use it on the effected area.
6. Regular exercise to move your lymphatic system

7. Some foods may add to the traditional Chinese concept of dampness in the body. Sugar, dairy, white flour, corn syrup and Salty foods

8. Yoga or stretching of the affected area. Stretching can help move fluids in the areas of pain
